Exhibition Guest Artist

Gerry Plumb

We are delighted to welcome Gerry Plumb as our Guest Artist this year.

Having spent his working life as a newspaper press artist, cartoonist, and latterly as an illustrator and figure artist for several major advertising agencies, Gerry is now semi-retired and spends his time doing what he enjoys most – drawing and painting. He has had several successful exhibitions in London, the West Country and the USA. His love of drawing, creativity and experimentation, together with the ability to translate great humour into his art, results in a very diverse range of artwork. The marine-themed work he has produced was inspired by the harbours and natural textures of Cornwall where he lived for some years. Having returned to Shropshire, where he originally studied painting and print-making at Shrewsbury School of Art, he now lives just outside Church Stretton. The views from his home studio have almost certainly introduced a strong element of landscape-based abstraction into his work and it’s here that he paints his unique and often humorous compositions. Life figure drawing is another field at which he excels and will add to the range of styles and genres to be included in this year’s exhibition.
