Exhibition Workshops

This page gives information about our 2018 Art Exhibition (31st July – 11th August).

Painting Without Brushes

Due to high demand, we are running this workshop twice…
Thursday 2nd August, 10.30am to 4pm and Wednesday 8th August, 10.30am to 4pm

Led by Rob Leckey ARBSA

Rob has painted all his life but it is only in recent years that he has concentrated on exhibiting his work.
Primarily, he works with acrylic paint, ink, collage and mixed media. The acrylics are applied with rollers, pieces of shaped wood, card and any found materials. Collage materials comprise of torn or shaped tissue paper, newsprint and magazine illustrations. Details can then be added with oil and chalk pastels, pen and ink.
Rob finds it very rewarding to experiment with colour, media and techniques. By the very nature of how he applies the collage, paint and inks he can never fully predict the outcome. He draws inspiration for his impressionistic style from town and cityscapes, boats and harbours and the natural landscape.

His workshop is for both beginners and experienced artists. Working in a similar style, paintings will be constructed in controlled but loose stages from the background coming forward, enabling artists with limited experience to confidently venture into new artistic avenues. Experienced artists may relish the opportunity to bring their skills and techniques, perhaps to a new and different style of picture making. Attendees should bring an image, photo or sketch that they may like to work from. He anticipates a fun and rewarding day. Refreshments will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch.
Attendees will be advised nearer the time as to what essentials they may need to bring.
