After a life-long interest in textiles, early retirement finally gave Sue the time to learn to weave. She has since become such an accomplished weaver that she has been accepted as a member of the prestigious Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft and also the Heritage Crafts Association.
Sue is drawn to the geometric nature of weaving and using comparatively simple designs that let the yarns tell the story with their own colours and textures. She prefers to work with natural fibres and much of the silk she uses is hand dyed, which makes each piece unique.
We are very excited that she’ll be bringing one of her looms to the Exhibition where she’ll be demonstrating this wonderful craft form. Sue will be delighted for visitors to gather round, watch, ask questions and appreciate the beauty of the textile she produces.
There’s no need to book, just come along and enjoy.
We will have a display of pottery created by the children from the Afterschool Craft Club – you may recall last year’s amazing display of pottery faces inspired by The Green Man.
