Exhibition Demonstrations 2025

We are very pleased to be hosting the following demonstrations this year:

Caricature demonstration and drawings

Saturday 2nd August, 12 noon-3pm
(First demonstration 12.15pm)

With Chris Ryder

Chris is a UK leading caricature artist and cartoonist with over 15 years’ experience of providing caricatures for a wide range of events. Her company, Wittypics, also works with corporate clients, bringing a fun element to events and providing a memento for people to take away. She has been the in-house caricature artist for Liverpool FC for over a decade and John Lewis, Marston Holdings and Bang & Olufson are just a few of the clients she has worked with.

We are delighted that Chris will be joining us at the Exhibition, where she will deliver a number of sessions to demonstrate her skill and enthral visitors with the speed at which she can capture someone’s likeness in a comical way. In between the sessions she will do caricatures, for a nominal charge, for those who would like one – a fun keepsake to take home.

Meet the stringed instrument maker

Sunday 3rd August, 12 noon-3pm

With Richard Commander

Being a string player, playing mostly folk but also in baroque string ensembles and viol consorts, led to Richard’s hobby of instrument making. It started over 20 years ago when, being entirely self-taught, he made his first violin. Retirement has enabled him to increase his output to include violins, violas, viols, period instrument copies and unusual guitars. He also undertakes repairs, deriving pleasure from bringing an unused instrument back to life. He works from home in Bridgnorth and has demonstrated his skill as a volunteer in Blists Hill Victorian Town sawmill.

We feel privileged to have Richard join us, together with a selection of his instruments. Come and see him working on his latest creation, chat about the process, view the instruments on display, and be impressed by his skill at making a beautiful, living instrument.

Both these demonstrations are FREE, and there is no need to book, so just drop in while you’re at the Exhibition, and enjoy!
