Allan has played in our Festival many times. He was Head Chorister at St John’s College, Cambridge, under the late Dr George Guest, and later won a music scholarship to Harrow School before returning to St John’s, Cambridge in 1993 as Organ Scholar. He studied the organ with Andrew Nethsingha, Christopher Robinson and David Sanger and as Organ Scholar toured Australia, South Africa, North America and Europe, as well as performing in broadcasts and recordings for the BBC and foreign broadcasters.
Allan has worked as Organist and Director of Music for several churches, including All Saints’ Cathedral, Nairobi. He has performed nationally and internationally as soloist, accompanist and conductor. Since moving to Worcestershire in 2009 he has worked regularly with Malvern Festival Chorus, the Marches Community Choir, the Phoenix Singers and the Elgar Chorale. As a viola player he is an enthusiastic member of the Worcester Philharmonic Orchestra and he lives with his wife and daughter near Malvern, where he is employed as Director of International Schools for Malvern College.
